You didn’t see this one coming right?

Neither did we.

Well its true, as Eurogamer have confirmed, that Far Cry 4, will be based in the snowy Himalayan mountain ranges of northern India. The game will also feature ridable elephants, which tipped us the ‘Indian connection.’

As unforgiving as the real thing?

Far Cry 4’s existence was confirmed about two months back, when it was mentioned in the CV of a Ubisoft Shanghai employee.

The switch to such a location marks a considerable change for the immensely popular Far Cry series, having always being based in tropical and sandy locales. Such a drastic change is much needed in the series though, and is a welcoming one. Rest assured, the upcoming Far Cry 4 will still be laid out similar to Far Cry 3. Outpost liberation will also be present in the game.

Far Cry 4 still has a long way to go. It’s release is touted to be around March 2015. Eurogamer mentions the Ubisoft will be revealing the game at their press conference at E3 2014. That happens in June, so it’s not that far away. Currently, PC, PS4 and Xbox One versions have been confirmed, there is no news about a PS3 and Xbox 360 version yet.

Far Cry 3, launched in November 2012 was a bloody good game. It’s right ‘up there’ for me. The game not only captured a lush island in digital form with perfection, but featured a dark story with disturbing characters and a great dubstep soundtrack. Six months later the game was followed up by a 60s spin-off Blood Dragon, which was also pretty darn good.

So there’s a lot to watch out for at E3 2014 from Ubisoft’s end. Far Cry 4 is obviously the most exciting, but there are others like Tom Clancy’s The Division and the massively multiplayer racing game The Crew.

Having been to the Himalayas countless times, I have to say I have never seen an elephant in the world’s single largest weather deciding region, but still, I’ll take it with open arms! Sitting on an elephant makes me feel like a Maharaja, I’ll have to admit!

  1. […] We all love insanity, because beauty’s in doing the same epic sh*t over and over and over again. But last night, there’s been an overflow of insanity, as Ubisoft and team Far Cry officially unveiled the first artwork for the most anticipated Ubisoft title of the year – Far Cry 4. Their disclaimer simply stated, new enemies, new heroes, and new location. As a huge fan of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and as an Indian, my mind simply cannot be contained at the moment, knowing that Far Cry 4 is hitting the Himalayas. […]
