In the most unlikely of events, Star Trek and Star Wars Episode VII director in a press conference with the head honcho of Valve Corporation, Gabe Newell announced that they were both collaborating on a game and a movie.

Half Life meets Star Wars?

According to Gabe, this collaboration will be based on the exchange of ideas two creative people have in regards to their respective mediums. Gabe spoke during the DICE Summit: “What we’re actually doing here is recapitulating a series of conversations that have been going on between us.” This is what happens when game and movie people get together. And we sort of reached the point where we decided that we needed to do more than talk. “So we’re going to try and figure out if we can make a Portal movie or a Half-Life movie together.”

Abrams added that, “We also have a game idea we would like to work with Valve on.”

So, while it might be every nerd’s wet dream come true to have the Half-Life team work with a Star Trek/Star Wars director on a game and a movie, one must also think that with Valve’s notorious “it’s done when it’s done” attitude and JJ Abrams’ million other more important commitments, anything solid between these two might take a while to see the light of day.

But what’s important is that it’s happening. a proper collaboration between films and games. And it’s happening in the best possible way.
