Plants vs Zombies 2: It’s About Time has been announced by Popcap Games in a press release sent across earlier in the day. The sequel will be free-to-play and will be released on the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch on July 18.

The game will also be showcased at E3 next week. iLLGaming is attending E3 and we will check out this fun sequel. We loved Plants vs Zombies 1. And being free-to-play makes it all the more awesome. Popcap Games claims that players will be able to experience all the features without paying a single penny. However, you can pay for in-game items. Its the now good old free-to-play model that many games are sporting.

“We’re confident that players will see the love and attention we’ve put into this game” says Senior producer Allen Murray in an official statement.

“We’ve created wild new ways to experience the plants and zombies you know and love as well as packing the game with tons of completely new content, and we’re still hard at work coming up with even more cool stuff that will keep Plants vs. Zombies 2 fresh and evolving in the months and years following launch.”

If you haven’t played a Plants vs Zombies game, then I suggest you do it now. It is basically a tower defence game, but it’s art style and overall presentation make it unique.

Thanks, VG247.
