Ubisoft announced today that Rayman Legends which was earlier announced as a WiiU exclusive, has now gone multiplatform and will now release on Xbox 360 as well as the PlayStation 3. The follow-up to the critically acclaimed Rayman Origins, however, will be delayed till September 2013.

According to a Ubisoft spokesperson, the reasons behind the shift to a multi-platform release for Rayman Legends were because, and he quotes, “We decided to give the fans what they wanted while at the same time broadening the audience exposed to this innovative and memorable game”

This comes as another blow to the WiiU library, which had built on its pre-release hype with Nintendo claiming it would woo third-party exclusives for its brand-new console. With a considerable number of top-tier AAA titles giving WiiU a miss and now Ubisoft making Rayman Legends a multi-platform game, Nintendo now may very well have to rely on their first-party exclusives much like they have done before.
