PS 4-3

In an interview with IVG, PlayStation India country manager Atindriya Bose confirmed that Sony’s highly awaited PlayStation 4 will launch in India alongside its launch time in Europe. A date for launch has not been confirmed yet, but it seems more likely that the next-gen console will launch around November 2013.

“It will be matched with the European launch; give or take a bit to account for Indian logistics. The consoles have to be shipped in advance and currently all consoles also require certification for the India market. In terms of targeting, we’re looking to synchronise with the European launch,” Bose said, adding, “That’s this year.”

This puts Microsoft India in a much complicated position, since their Xbox One is slated for as far as late 2014. Sony gets the headstart here, and we’re pretty sure Sony will capitalise on that. Sony does have a stronger foothold than Microsoft in India, when it comes to console sales.

Thanks, MCV.
