If you have a device that supports nVidia’s Tegra 3, you’re in for some serious mobile gaming. nVidia’s Tegra 3 chipset is a pretty robust mobile graphics architecture, supporting advanced textures, shaders and lighting. Not all games on the Android Marketplace ‘Google Play’ make use of what the Tegra chip has to offer, but the ones that do, look gorgeous.
We have compiled a list of TegraZone games you have to try out, too see what the chipset is capable of. We’ll also be illustrating the differences between the normal version of the game and the Tegra version. This is mobile gaming at its finest. 1. Beach Buggy Blitz
Beach Buggy Blitz is your generic infinite drive game that takes you through lush detailed environments. It is a semi-casual game where players can collect coins to unlock and upgrade new vehicles. This game is optimized for the Tegra 3, offering Tegra 3 specific features. Here are the differences between the Tegra and non-Tegra versions of the game. The lighting effects are clearly evident on the Tegra version, which are missing in the normal Android version.
2. The Conduit HD
This game developed by High Voltage Software Inc, is “THE FPS” shooter to go for for mobile devices. Based in futuristic America, The Conduit HD is fast paced and tends to get tense one time too many. The Tegra version of The Conduit HD is a full port of the Wii version, along with some minor additions. The first two missions on this game are free, but you have to pay to play beyond that. The difference of the Tegra and non-Tegra versions is massive. The Tegra version features better lighting and particle effects, as illustrated below.
3. Dark Meadow: The Pact
Dark Meadow: The Pact is a TegraZone exclusive game and only runs on Tegra 3 supported devices, although there will be a Tegra 2 version soon. This game’s development was supported by nVidia. Developed by Phosphor Games, Dark Meadow: The Pact uses Unreal Engine 3, and is a dark themed action/adventure first-person game. The environments are atmospheric and the setting is tense and nervy. Be sure to play this with headphones. Dark Meadow: The Pact is a good showcase of the abilities of the Tegra 3 chipset.
4. Dead Trigger
No top-games list is complete without the inclusion of a zombie game, and this is where Madfinger Games’ Dead Trigger comes into the picture. Zombies should be the bottom of your priorities list if you’re playing this game, because, believe us, the graphics are absolutely spectacular. Ragdoll physics, post-processing, advanced Transform & Lighting, this game has all the bells and whistles. Dead Trigger is another game which you can try out for free, and buy only if you like it.
5. Demon’s Score THD
A creation of Square Enix, Demon’s Score THD commands a premium price on the Google Play store (Rs. 1100), but is worth every penny for most of its parts. This is an RPG game that is more hardcore than your usual mobile-hardcore games (or the lack thereof). One a side note, the TegraZone really appeals in its offerings of non-casual hardcore games for serious gamers, and Demon’s Score THD is the epitome of this. The mobile platform can appeal to hardcore gamers, and Demon’s Score is the perfect starting point if you’re willing to explore. The Tegra 3 advancements in this game come in the form of bloom lighting, high resolution textures, dynamic shadows (too name a few).
