1. Deus Ex
The film was announced on 12 July, 2012, being made by Eidos Montreal and CBS Films. The story line will be inspired from the Deus Ex: Human Revolution game and not the original Deus Ex. If the movie is to follow that plot, then we can be sure of some hi-end bio and nano tech influenced world set in 2027. The protagonist, Adam Jensen, with freshly equipped advanced prostheses will work his way from Sarif Headquarters to Panchae. Unlike the game, the movie will have a definite ending, not leaving us with options to destroy or not to destroy. Lets hope the movie does justice to the critically acclaimed game. According to the writer C. Robert Cargill, the movie will be very realistic and will adhere to the ‘cyberpunk’ theme. There is no word on the release date yet.
2. Devil May Cry
Devil May Cry is a golden series and has adaptations in the form of comics, novels, anime and soon a film. Screen Gems, the company responsible for successfully converting ‘Resident Evil’ series into a movie franchise, had bought the rights of the DMC series feature film back in 2011. The first movie will be based on the latest game ‘DMC: Devil May Cry’ and will be made as an origin story for Dante. It will be fun to see the hero battling demons and travelling between two worlds and defeating the Limbo world’s Demon King. Kyle Ward is writing the script for the movie. The filming is yet to begin.
3. God of War
Everyone loves Sparta, everyone loves Greek mythology and every gamer loves playing Kratos. Demons, monster, demigods, heroes, gods and Kratos; any movie having all of these is bound to be a hit. God Of War movie was first announced way back in 2005, but nothing happened. In July 2012, Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan were hired to write the script of the movie and a budget of 150 million dollars has been set aside for the film. We would love to see what the Ghost of Sparta can do on the big screen.
4. Warcraft
This one is by far the most awaited game movie yet. Warcraft game has a subscriber base of millions, and the in-game characters and multiple plots are just amazing; anything made on Warcraft is bound to sell. Well, the movie is in works since 2006 and has made some real progress in the last few months. Duncan Jones has been hired to direct the film and the plot will be inspired from the World of Warcraft universe; Legendary Pictures say that the filming will begin in 2014 with a tentative release date of 2015. This will be one heck of a movie, and a budget of 220 million dollars should suffice.
5. Assassins Creed
Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed movie now has a definite release date of 22 May, 2015. Michael Fassbender (Magneto from X-men: First Class) will be the main hero, Desmond Miles, and he will be producing the film too. The plot will be inspired from first game of the franchise, where Miles is made to travel to his ancestors past to uncover a few secrets. The film’s release date falls between the much anticipated Avengers 2 and the Star Wars: Episode VII, it will interesting to see how this one fares at the box-office.
