According to recent HP research in The HP India Gaming Landscape Report 2021, nine out of ten respondents felt that gaming on a PC appeared to be smoother than on a smartphone. Not less than 89% of respondents have acknowledged a better gaming experience offered by the PC. Furthermore, nearly 37% (4 in 10) of mobile gamers want to switch to a PC for a better gaming experience.
Such trends were found in 70% of Millennials and Gen Z, as well as, 75% of Casual and Enthusiast gamers. The survey indicates that in Tier 2 cities, 94% of respondents choose PCs over mobile phones for gaming. The number varied between 88% and 87% of respondents in Tier 1 cities and metropolitan cities, respectively. These numbers clearly demonstrate a significant level of opportunity for the PC gaming sector in a country that places supreme importance on the usage of smartphones for gaming.
Among the reasons cited by respondents for such a large transition to PC gaming, sound, display, and faster processing speed are noteworthy. Such trends have given way to streams of opportunities encompassing PC gaming as the focal point. With such a rise in PC gaming, more than 60% of gamers are looking for PCs for gaming under the bracket of 100k. In the survey, the trend shows that women more than men are inclined & interested to buy PC for gaming costing over 100k.
Making a career in gaming
With such a whopping number corroborating huge potential for the gaming industry, it presents significant career opportunities. 90% of the respondents have affirmed to it, out of which 84% are women, 80% are men, 91% are Gen X and 88% are school students. In comparison to respondents from metro areas (78 percent), respondents from Tier 2 cities (84 percent) looked to be more inclined to pursue a career in the gaming sector.
WOMEN TOPS MEN IN CONSIDERING GAMING AS A CAREER
Gen X and school students are most interested in pursuing gaming as a career option
It can said that women, people from Tier 2 towns, Gen Z, and respondents from Western India consider gaming to be a viable career option. Survey respondents identified entertainment (54 percent), photo/video editing (54 percent), and graphic design (48 percent) as other primary tasks in addition to gaming. This demonstrates the diversity and viability of PCs equipped with gaming capabilities.
GAMERS IN TIER 2 MOST INCLINED TOWARDS GAMING AS A CAREER

Relieve stress with PC gaming
With the threat of a pandemic existing, it was discovered that PC gaming is a good way to relieve stress. It is also a great way to connect with friends and family. As many as 92% of the respondents agreed with the same thing. According to 91% of them, it aids in making new friends and socializing with peers on a whole new level. In addition, 91% of the respondents also agreed that concentration and attention levels are enhanced by gaming.

Customers choices for selecting a PC for gaming
The survey also enquired about the customer’s preferences while selecting a PC with regard to different purposes. A total of 33% of the total PC users have preferred to buy a PC with pro-level gaming features. Furthermore, graphics capabilities (64%) and faster processing speed (65%) appear to be the top priorities for users in a PC. For PC gaming, the gaming community is interested in receiving better immersive displays, batteries, graphics, and thermal innovations.
Overall, the HP India Gaming Landscape Report 2021 has significantly emphasized the relevance of PC gaming in India. It also focussed on how it is impacting society and offering significant options in the phase of the COVID-19 pandemic.
