The ever so growing Freemium/F2p (Free-to-play) model for games in handheld devices is doing wonders for the profits of publishers. One of those on Cloud No. 9 in Gameloft.
Gameloft in its Q1 financial report it shared with VG24/7, has posted a year-on-year sales increase of 21%, to €54.2 million (Rs. 385 crore approx).
In the report, Gameloft reports that sales on tablets and smartphones rose by 71%, compared to last year. These sales made up 60% of the company’s total sales, where last year that number stood at 43%. The jump is about 50%, proving that the freemium model is going big.
Gameloft has named the games Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour, World at Arms, My Little Pony, Ice Age Village, Order & Chaos Online, Gangstar Rio: City of Saints and Asphalt 7: Heat as the key contributors to its numbers.
Recent 2013 releases by Gameloft, namely Dungeon Hunter 4, Iron Man 3 and Order & Chaos Duels are also performing strongly, as reported.
