Conslusions
The double headed competition between Nvidia and AMD is getting more stiffer than ever, which the lead shifting spots successively in the past two years. This competition is good thing. Two major players, both constantly competing neck-to-neck against each other forces them to deliver solutions that count. Who benefits? The consumer.
At the end of the day though, the differences between the latest generations of Radeon and GeForce GPUs are minimal. Its more of a personal preference than a performance one, in this day and age. I would recommend Nvidia over AMD for its generally better handling of intricacies though.
Being more specific, Nvidia clearly had an eye out for the Radeon HD 7950 Boost with its induction of the GeForce GTX 760. Both are priced at the same level (approx INR 20,000), but the GTX 760 sits in a slightly better position performance wise, so you have your answer here.
The GTX 770 has it a little rough though. With its induction, AMD has reduced the price of the HD 7970 to match that of the GTX 770, while also being a faster card overall. In some cases, certain variants of the HD 7970 are priced even lower than the GTX 770. Last year, it was a similar story with the GTX 670. You have to count on Nvidia to lower the prices of the GTX 770 to stay in competition.
Which card to go for is a choice of personal preference of the buyer. AMD has bundled big-name games with its 7950 and 7970, but Nvidia has its own set of advantages to offer i.e. a better track record of driver support, the GeForce Experience software, and better build quality and quieter, more efficient coolers in the reference models. Also, Nvidia’s SLI is easily superior to AMD’s CrossFire.
Very immaculate. Very detailed. A good and comprehensive review. Doesn’t miss out on any details and yet manages to remain newbie-friendly.
Computer hardware always seems to overwhelm most users with its ‘perceived’ complexity, but with some patience, it is actually easy to get into.
Great review, but too bad the benchmarks do not cover the 1920×1080 resolution for the general gamer…
thanks for the feedback, will consider for our upcoming gpu reviews
