iLLGamer Tathagata Ray has been bringing you daily accounts of his adventures in the Himalayan kingdom of Kyrat in Far Cry 4. However he has gone missing after being caught in an avalanche on Day 4. And so we are sending iLLGamer Chirantan Raut on a search and rescue mission to Kyrat. This is his diary.

Day 6 – Where Eagles Dare
I wake up to a glorious morning piqued by the sun’s rays peeking from behind the tall Himalayan peaks that surround this land breathing in the piquant mountain air. And suddenly my vision goes red as sharp claws tear through my face. Time for a selfie maybe. But first I should take care of this Eagle. I like this Eagle. This is a nice fucking Eagle. And the best part is that it’s now a nice dead fucking Eagle.
Did I ever tell you the definition of Insanity? Insanity in Kyrat is trying to venture outdoors without first checking for an Eagle. Trying to take and outpost stealthily with no alarms raised and the final Puggun goon in your sights, when suddenly, Eagle! And the alarm is raised. Trying to hunt a rampaging rhino with only arrows, when suddenly, Eagle! And you regain consciousness in the nearest outpost. Trying to sneak by a bunch of Puggun’s lads (seems women aren’t as attracted to the Royal Army as they are to the Golden Path) to rescue hostages, when suddenly, Eagle! And you are now target practice and responsible for four innocents dying. Even the best laid plans in Kyrat go awry because suddenly, Eagle! I’ve grown to despise these majestic lords of the skies even more than Puggun. It’s not easy to bring them down except when they’re dive bombing you and by then, it’s too late.
What does soothe my rage at eagles in this country is the talent of this graffiti artist who seems to have left his mark all over the place. The colourful and stylish graffiti by C215 is worth pausing my journey to admire, but that’s not the only thing I’m pausing for. It seems there’s a serial killer loose in Kyrat with a fetish for masks. Come to think of it, there’s many types of serial killers loose in Kyrat, some state-sponsored, others supporting the revolutionary cause.
Speaking of revolutionaries, it seems Sabal and Amita have both had enough of each other and each is plotting to murder the other. Honestly, I wouldn’t mind being rid of both, given how little help they have been in my quest. So I toss a coin and Sabal must be banished as a result. I can now continue to North Kyrat and the mountain prison off Durgesh. That was the last major landmark in Tathagata’s diary and now that I’ve taken care of all the distractions in South Kyrat, it is time to get back on the main quest.
Durgesh is a hard place to reach, climbing through treacherous crags and discovering that the ice pedestals aren’t so sound at all can be a rare pain. Not to forget the heavily crowded front door that reminds one, why doesn’t the Golden Path have air support yet?! Man, we just lit up the Kyrati International Airport. The scenic beauty when you are atop the Durgesh is absolutely inexplicable. And just when you were about to admire the place, off comes a buzzing sound that makes you check your surrounding twice. From out of nowhere comes this mysterious mist of cloud, sheathing an old assassin within – a Rakshasa. Where in the world have you led me to, T. Running through the cells of Durgesh, finding death and despair everywhere, I find my way away from the Rakshasa.
Saving Private Ray
Good stuff T, you found a broken grapple and made your way through the walls. He was definitely not in Durgesh, but the clues tell me he should be around, especially in this snow storm. Ziplining my way through the enemy horde I crack open the lock and rush for the snow. And there he was, rolled with the snow, next to an avalanche that was. Getting him up on his feet, I made a call to Amita. The idiot won’t stop murmuring, and from his words, I believe that he encountered a Yeti. Pssst, drugs kids, don’t do it. Ask Sabal uncle.
My quest seems finished and I can head to Rome now, but the Ray Man has other plans, as he tells me once he sobers up. Seems he wants to go to Lakshmana and depose Pagan Min.
Speak of the devil, and suddenly, Pagan! This should end soon enough I think. And how mistaken I am. I forgot that it’s custom among all the maniacal dictators to have at least one body double. And this ‘Pagan’ was just that. A decoy. We had been played. Well, at least I was now motivated to get back at Puggun.
Before we could strike at him though, there was a temple to save from demolition and a town to rescue from a Royal Army assault. An underground swim and a boat chase sequence later,we finally found ourselves at the gates of the Royal Palace. Fighting our way through waves of Puggun’s best boys, we finally made it to a rather anti-climatic end. The room evoked a strong sense of deja vu and Pagan hammered the point in with his drawl. This wasn’t the boastful speech of a deranged supervillain, rather it was a scathing attack on the moral righteousness of our actions in Kyrat. Tathagata wanted to shoot the guy immediately, but I stayed his hand and let Pagan continue. He finally led us to Lakshmana, who it turned out was his and Ishwari’s daughter, and Mohan Ghale was just as much a monster as him. Thinking us to be emotionally taken, Pagan decided to take his leave in the chopper. That’s when Tathagata said to me, “Surely you’re not letting him get away that easy?” I saw the hope in Pagan’s eyes as I sighted him through the thin slit on my RPG and said, “Nope.” And boom went the helicopter crashing to the earth in a ball of flames. I started laughing maniacally as I remembered the words of Ishwari. Kyrat does bring out the worst in people.[divider]
Tathagata’s Take
I was surprised and relieved to find Chirantan in Kyrat, not that I needed rescuing. After I regained my bearings, I made it straight that Iwas here to fight for the men, but most importantly the women, I asked him to join hands with Amita, who can, by sheer force, bring in a change Kyrat so deserves, though it seems that sneaky Sabal had tried to make a comeback, but C was smart enough to banish him again. I convinced him that I had not lost my mind in this godforsaken place, as I had previously politely asked Sabal to leave the Golden Path, handing over the charges to Amita, instead of killing him like Amita asked.
On our final fight to resist the Pagan, we flew like birds and landed on Utkarsh, the northern Kyratian town, the two homies finally reunited, destroying Royal Army vehicles bringing in reinforcements, plundering mortar like comets from Hell, chanting “Down with the Puggun” until we make our final move – the Royal Castle. So Kyrat was coming to its closure, and we packed our bags and left for that one final do or die moment for the real people of Kyrat, yeah down with the Hong Kong dictatorship.
Ramming through the castle with the fellow Golden Path members, we resisted sheer brutal force and charging heavy guards to break down into Pagan’s locker, find him and execute him, in cold blood while he enjoys the Crab Rangoon, though Chirantan decided otherwise. Looks like he was waiting for a chance to showcase his insanity (from his last visit to the Rook Islands) later when he shot down the fleeing Pagan’s bird and declared Kyrat to be finally truly free.
