Metro: Last Night is out, and its great. It is based in the ruins of post-apocalyptic Moscow in year 2034. Metro’s graphics are top notch, every better in some parts than Crysis 3. The game supports Advanced Phong Tessellation and support for nVidia’s PhysX.
The PC version is the supremo one in graphics, but as it turns out, PC gamers have been complaining about random crashes, graphics bugs, random polygons etc. And this is being experienced by both Radeon and GeForce owners.
In a Reviewers Guide sent to us by nVidia for Metro: Last Night, the 320.14 Beta driver download links are given. nVidia says that these drivers are specially optimized for Metro: Last Night. The drivers also improve performance in Tomb Raider, Starcraft II and Dirt: Showdown.
We tested the drivers out. After our first install, the random crashing had stopped but we were still getting random polygons, like the ones you get when you’re overclocking. Our test-PC is fitted with the GTX 680. We uninstalled the drivers, did a clean install and after a restart, voila, the random polygons are gone, and the game runs just fine. So you should check the “Perform a Clean Install” option when you’re installing these drivers, as it does make a difference.
