In a press release by Nvidia, it is announced that its upcoming handheld gaming system, Shield will be released in June and pre-orders will go live on May 20 via Nvidia’s website.
The Nvidia Shield, a device first of its kind will allow user to play Android titles on its dedicated portable screen, or through a television. Another interesting and one-of-a-kind feature supported by the Shield is that it can stream your Steam games on the device itself. The Shield features the Tegra-4 chipset.
Games will be available on the Shield via the TegraZone, which will interconnect to your Google Play account. It’s handled the same way it is you’ve used the TegraZone app on your Tegra enabled Android device.
The pricing of the device has also been revealed, at $359 (Rs. 20,000 approx) a piece.
No official statement was given about the Nvidia’s plan for the Shield in India. We got in touch with Nvidia’s PR reps in India, and all we got was ‘No comments.’
We predict the device will launch in India during mid-July and will be priced around Rs. 25,000/- but this is only a speculation.
