When it comes to battling against your friend or foe on the same device, there are not many games that people can look forward to playing on the App stores all over. Circulets aims to do just that and give a few seconds of carefree fun in our usually busy lives. Coming from the studio of Hashtash, Circulets is a recently released, competitive, two-player, gather and win type of game.

Given the theme and the motive behind the game, there is not much to expect or dislike. The game follows a simple logic and makes the best use of it in terms of both gameplay and graphics. I must say the first look of the game reminded me of the Air Hockey app from 4-5 years back, but they are not even distantly related.

The gameplay is quite plain and only requires you to move your fingers fast and sensibly. The screen space is shared by both the players and each one has to collect their respectively coloured circles or circulets by pulling them towards the end of their side of the screen. For example in blue-red and orange theme, one player is assigned blue colour and the other red, each circulet is worth one point and if a blue player pulls in a red circulet or vice-versa one point is deducted. The orange circulet is a special circle appearing at random intervals, the player who pulls this in gets two points added to their score. In the end the player with most points wins. The game supports multi-touch ofcourse, and multiple circles can be dragged in at once.

The game comes in three modes of 30/60/90 seconds and various colour combinations for your liking (though I found blue, red and the double points orange combo to be the most attractive). You choose the duration and colour theme before starting the game. There is also a black colour theme available (this did not make much sense to me, but anyways fun), in this you can’t tell which circulet is yours and end up drawing a random score from random pulls; may the lucky one win. The background music goes well with the game and does justice.

While playing the game is quite easy, it is not difficult to cheat as well, as the device is the same. I could effortlessly drag a few of my circulets into my opponents end for an alternate way of winning. If time and skill allows, this is very much a valid option.

Most random point scoring. +1 for black, -1 for black, +2 for black.

Circulets is not a game changer or an evolutionary game, it is simply a fun game, best enjoyed when you have one tablet and two people to use it, the person with the most points gets to use the tablet, LOL! The game is ideally suited for tablets though it is available on phones as well, but it will be quite a task even on a 5.5 incher.

The developer has done well to find a niche (2P on the same device) in a very crowded app market. The game is one of the best uncomplicated, competitive time-pass things to do when you are absolutely free. Good way to sort out battles with friends. Plus there is a social sharing option, requiring one to sign in manually.

Circulets is paid and is available for download on iOS, Android, Amazon and Samsung app stores, and a download is recommended.

Also, there is a very interesting first week analysis done by the developer, take a look. (http://hashstash.in/updates/circulets-how-did-we-do-in-week-1)
