Microsoft slashed prices of Xbox 360 in India recently with the console now starting at Rs 12,990 for the basic 4GB version. It makes the Xbox 360 a worthy proposition. Here are the top Xbox 360 Games, if you do decide to buy the console during its bitter-sweet life period.
Before we begin, why would anyone want to pick a last generation console when there’s the Xbox One and PS4 available? Last gen is still very active, has a huge user base and much, much more games than the current generation of consoles. Better games too, the PS4 and Xbox One haven’t really churned out that good games. Plus, many developers are still making games for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
Given the price drop of the Xbox 360, there are some very compelling reasons to pick up the console, especially if you did not get a chance to play the exclusives through the life of the console.
Alan Wake
5 years in development and the only title released by Remedy for any 7th generation consoles, Alan Wake definitely took its time before it reached shelves. Once it made its debut in the market it was able to make a place for itself in the hearts of many gamers. The episodic way of delivering the story has been done very well with top notch voice acting and an excellent narrative which proves the importance of storytelling in video games. Dense and dark environments of the game adds to its horror. The game makes some clever use of light as a weapon and evolves this old war of light and darkness in an unique way. If you are an Xbox 360 owner this is a must buy for you.
Kinect Sports
The first Kinect game to be developed by Rare packs in 6 different sports in one package. The game will transform your living room into a playground for sure. It may not be the most precise Kinect game developed but it definitely proved the technology behind the Kinect was a proof of a concept. Kinect Sports is not meant for solo fun to get the most value out of the game bring some friends and family with you and shed some calories together. Then there are leisure games like Bowling and Darts, always Don’t mind if you look like some kids while enjoying this experience.
Lost Odyssey
A 2007 role-playing game by Mistwalker and Feelplus, with a profound story set in a magical industrial revolution. The player takes control of Kaim, a man who has lived for a thousand years and who has no memory of his past. Kaim struggles with the return of his memories and the pain they bring. Many of these memories are presented to the player in the style of visual novels. Lost Odyssey uses a traditional turn-based battle system with melee attacks and a magic system based on four classes of magic. The game features a ring-building system, immortals, and a skill system added a fresh feel to the game’s otherwise traditional combat.
Forza Motorsport 4
The last Forza Motorsport game to make its debut on Xbox 360 still remains one of the best in franchise, Forza 4 combined its existing knowledge of simulators with some new twists and content. The game is responsible for giving birth to auto vista mode which allows you see through every single detail of the gorgeously crafted car model and add to that commentary by Top Gear UK host Jeremy Clarkson. Packed with 26 tracks and 500 cars Forza 4 never falls short of content. This is the ultimate racing game for your Xbox 360.
State of Decay
State of Decay focuses on survival tactics more than actual zombie combat. Set in an open world, the game features 99 different weapons, with half of them melee weapons. Players are able to choose from a large variety of locations to build a base in. These bases can be upgraded with watch towers, gardens, sleeping quarters, kitchens, workshops, medical bays, and barricades. Some add utility like helping survivors recover faster, and build explosives and other tools, while others are to defend against the infected population. Food, medicine, shelter, ammo, and construction materials are necessary for survival. To obtain these supplies, the player will need to go on raids to abandoned supermarkets and many other locations, although food can be grown at the base.
Fable 2
The original Fable was a well loved classic and the sequel, Fable 2 being exclusive to the Xbox 360 console, the game stays close to the original in design with many quality of life changes that make playing the game so much better. Exploring with your pet dog, getting married, taking up jobs to earn cash, all elements come to together to make for a pleasant gaming experience. With an easy system for Co-op play players are able to drop in and out of other players’ games at will, with the host setting up rules. The advanced age with huge castles and primitive firearms makes this one of the best Fable game to the series.
The Witcher 2: Assassin’s of Kings
The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings was one of the best RPG to have come out and as such met with universal acclaim. It featured a wonderful story told in such a rich world matched with difficult choices and mature / real life themes with complex challenging combat. This is the definitive single player fantasy RPG game. New copies on the Xbox 360 have shipped are now avaliable with additional content on board named “The Enhanced Edition”. Just stay wary of the warewolfs in the arena mode.
Battleblock Theatre
An Xbox Live Arcade smash hit. Set in a stick puppet art style, the game has a lot of varied stages and extensive multiplayer modes making it perfect for couch coop or to play with your family. The game is content rich with media calling the game design a masterpiece. A great game for the family and for an individual with a level editor and option to download other player made adventures you are getting a lot of bang for your buck.
Halo 4
The first main line Halo to be developed by 343 Industries was a risky one but at the end of the day it pays off with style. It establishes an emotional connection between Cortana and Master Chief and delivers a very personal story of man and machine with an epic scale of battle. Halo 4 also ups the graphic standards set by the franchise by taking the graphics to a whole new level. While the multiplayer make not be the classic Halo dose which the fans expect however it still plays well. Halo 4’s tale is one of the most emotional story I have played in a while.
Gears of War (Trilogy)
How can I miss the Gears of War franchise. Developed and published by Epic Games in partnership with Microsoft Gears of War holds the crown of the best third-person shooter of previous generation in my eyes. Taking place on an earth like planet ‘Sera’, the game revolves around the battle of humans and locust to ensure their survival planet. Each entry in the franchise has something to add in, while one has a dark environment the other has an epic scale of battle. This diversity in each of the titles makes it a unique experience. A highly skill based multiplayer with a steep learning curve may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but learning the crooks and crannies is a rewarding experience.
