The Roots of Chess
What is it about this 64-square sport that has made it so popular throughout the world? As a beginner, it’s a game of intelligence, strategy, and patience that piques the intellect. The power of imagination and intuition to enthrall even an untrained audience lies in their ability to fire the creative mind. It has been shown to help prevent cognitive decline and delay the effects of dementia by testing memory and numeracy abilities, as well as visual-spatial reasoning and critical thinking. As opposed to other sports, it is a game that is open to all ages, incomes, and levels of education.
