You heard me talk about Batman: Arkham City in this post. There’s a lot of buzz going around this game. There’s lots of anticipation all over, considering how good the first part of Arkham Asylum was.

The game developers have been slowly releasing bits of information on the game and what it’s going to look and play like, so this supplement will cover up some of that stuff. Here are some of the basics of Arkham City.

What is Batman: Arkham City?

Batman: Arkham City is the sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum, based on the original comic book concepts and story line. The game is third person, blending hand-to-hand combat, puzzle solving, and exploration. The game is backed by great graphics and a great city to explore.

Unlike Arkham Asylum, where Batman was trapped in an asylum with criminals, he was away from the city he connects with so well, Gotham City. In Arkham City, it’s not Batman trapped in an asylum, It’s the criminals that are trapped with Batman in the city.

In Arkham Asylum, the game ended with the asylum being destroyed, and its warden, Qunicy Sharp, who is now the mayor of Gotham City, has converted the city’s slum into a prison to house Arkham’s inmates. In the game, Arkham City is an open world, broken into districts, and each district is controlled by an enemy, or what you may call a boss. And Batman is supposed to take control of the districts by killing their bosses.

What’s the plot of Batman: Arkham City?

The story of Arkham City takes place one year after the events of Arkham Asylum. Two Face has Catwoman in custody and threatens to execute her, and Batman must break into Arkham City to stop all the madness.

What characters should we get to see in Arkham City?

We all know how Arkham Asylum was just AMAZING with its characters. Many characters will be making an appearance in City and there will be a few new ones too. By far, these have been confirmed:

  • What is the gameplay like?

The core fundamentals of the gameplay remain pretty much the same, with the addition of new, cooler gadgets and moves. Expect to use the detective mode more often since in this installment it is an integral part of the game. Batman’s Cryptographic Sequencer has been upgraded, which pops up a small holographic panel in Batman’s arm. Pretty cool. Batman can then hack into signals around the city to see what the criminals are up to.

The story is said to be a lot darker. As if Arkham Asylum wasnt dark enough!

How does the game look like?

IGN recently got their hands on an AMAZING 20-minute gameplay video of Arkham City. It looks AWESOME. Watch the video here, and be blown away!

      • Thats great news. A mini series for this amazing game, considering the quality of art used in the game, I can imagine the level of the miniseries comics.
