A few weeks back, Microsoft announced that Mojang, the developer behind the smash hit Minecraft, was being acquired by them for $2 billion. It will be now be a part of Microsoft Studios. We are still not aware why Microsoft paid such a hefty amount for Mojang and what they plan to do with the studio and its intellectual properties.

Leaving those thoughts aside, yesterday Jens Bergensten (Developer at Mojang) announced that Minecraft Pocket Edition is coming to the Windows Phone store. There was no mention of a release date or a release window. However, the developer stated that a port of Minecraft Pocket Edition is already running on Windows Phone. However, they need to optimize it before they release it. Windows Phone users have been waiting for Minecraft Pocket Edition for a long time since the game is already available on other platforms (IOS and Android).
