Codemasters has announced GRID Autosport, the next game of the excellent GRID racing sim series on its official blog. The announcement was accompanied with the following trailer:

Ben Walke, Community Manager at Codemasters focused on GRID Autosport going back to its roots in being a more authentic racing game, and inspired by the community. In the blog post, Walke openly admits to making some mistakes on GRID 2, and have responded to the community to undo the done. In his words, “On release of GRID 2, I think it’s fair to say that through listening to you guys and a after a substantial amount of reflection, we hadn’t quite achieved everything we set out to do. We’re proud of the game, really delighted with some of the great reviews for it, but we’re not above admitting that we made a few decisions that perhaps we shouldn’t have, and perhaps moved some of the aspects of the game too far away from our core fanbase. “

More realistic handling

GRID Autosport goes back to a more authentic handling style. It’s definitely not a full simulation – we want it to be authentic, not clinical – but it’s more towards that end of the spectrum than before” says Walke. “Each car has been tuned and adjusted to really give a sense of its personality so they will act and behave differently from one another, as they would in real life.”

A different experience for each racing discipline

A racing discipline forms the core foundations of the game. It decides how you’re supposed to approach a race. Racing disciplines in GRID Autosport have their own dedicated series within them, ranging from Touring Cars, GT, Single-Seaters, Muscle Cars, Drift, Supercars, Hypercars, Time Attack, Prototypes and many, many more. More details on each discipline will be dished out by Codemasters.

Locations

The trailer above shows the following locations: Hockenheim, Sepang, San Francisco, Jarama and Yas Marina. GRID Autosport will feature a total of 22 locations and a combined route list of over 100. GRID Autosport has more circuits than Race Driver: GRID and GRID 2 combined.

About me: A collector, I hunt for stuff that was missed. I’m the guy who goes into a music store and asks the staff if they have some secret music cd in the backroom storage closet. My life ticks away while I watch anime, reading fictional novels or stalk Wikipedia for information completely useless to me.
