Angry Birds, the popular mobile game has a new installment and this time it will be featuring the Transformers. During Comic Con 2014, Rovio Entertainment revealed that they will be releasing a brand new Angry Birds game in conjunction with Hasbro gaming. Angry Birds Transformers, which is the tenth installment in the Angry Birds franchise, will be featuring a battle between the ‘Autobirds’ and the ‘Deceptihogs’, which are rather cringe inducing terms. The Angry Birds series is well known for its partnership with other popular franchises such as Rio and Star Wars.
Very few details were made available to the public, but Blanca Juti, the Chief Marketing Officer of Rovio Entertainment said, “This mash-up is going to appeal to those who grew up with the brand in the 80s, as well as fans of the brand today”. The trailer released confirms that Angry Birds will once again blend itself in a new avatar of Transformers. Rovio did not gave a specific release date however, only stating that Angry Birds Transformers is planned for release in the middle of 2014.
A key part of the deal between the two companies is the range of ‘Telepods’ toys that will be sold alongside the smartphone and tablet game, with players being able to scan in the toys to have those characters appear in the game. Hasbro also confirmed that they have sold 1 million (10 lakh) telepods in the first month.

Our Take
The past few installments in the Angry Birds series have explored new genres. Angry Birds Go proved that Rovio is not afraid of taking risks with the franchise and is open to explore new horizons. Angry Birds Epic, the latest entry in the franchise isa turn based strategy game that brings the RPG genre to casual gamers, is already a big hit. It shouldn’t be surprising if Rovio does something new with the series this time as well, because the traditional Angry Birds formula has grown old. Perhaps they could explore Angry Birds from a 3D perspective. Though the trailer does not show any gameplay, it looks good and promising. It will be interesting to see how Rovio blends the different birds into transformers and uses the transformation abilities. A same day release on Windows Phone with iOS and Andriod will also be appreciated by those users.
Omg the trailer looks awesome and they have clearly mentioned it is not the actual game play. I am anxiously waiting for the game play videos
