The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

With a beautiful, ancient, lovable world, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has been the biggest RPG of 2012. This is an open-ended RPG game, making it more of a CPU-intensive benchmark. But it doesn’t stop there. The large number of fairly complex models and magical effects together can bring down a good GPU. And if you’re someone like me, then you must have installed the High Resolution Pack. You’d know that your good old 6870 wasn’t good enough for that.

Here is where we see that the lack of memory bandwidth on the GTX 660 Ti’s, compared to the GTX 670, does have a considerable effect. The GTX 670 is about 10% ahead of its younger sibling. We doubt the 660 Ti’s performance at higher resolutions such as 2560×1600. The memory shortage will amplify itself at those resolutions. Our future tests will feature benchmarks at 2560×1600.
