India competes in the IESF’s 14th World Esports Championship (WEC) in 2022, with India’s CS:GO team taking on Tajikistan on December 2. The players for Team CS:GO are Ritesh Sarda (Defaulter), Shuvajyoti Chakraborty (Mcg1LLzZz), Anshul Adarkar (KiiLSwitCh), Hrishikesh Shenoy (Crazy Gamer), and Harsh Jain (lynX). After getting the eighth place in the match last year, the team says it will do better this year. In addition to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, India will also compete in Tekken 7 and eFootball.
Tournament offers the prize pool of USD 500k
The tournament witnesses participation from more than 120 countries, competing against each other for securing positions in six different titles: CS:GO, Dota 2, Tekken 7, eFootball, PUBG Mobile and Mobile Legends. The tournament will take place in Bali from December 1st-12th with a prize pool of ₹4 crores approximately. The team representing India is the same which won the National Qualifiers in the previous WEC 2022 in Eilat.
Indian teams also competing for Tekken 7 and eFootball titles
With respect to Tekken 7 and eFootball titles, players like Hitesh Khorwal (Rcool) and Hemanth Kommu (Peshemak7) will be representing India, respectively. Khorwal will compete in Group E alongside competitors from Pakistan, the Bahamas, Venezuela, and Palestine, facing off against Lucius Antoine of the Bahamas on December 3.
On the other hand, Kommu will be in Group P alongside athletes from Kazakhstan, Armenia, and Guinea. On December 3, he will face Cheick Conde of Guinea in his first match. Games in the Tekken 7 group stage will be played using a best-of-three format, while those in CS:GO will be played using a best-of-one format.
The top two teams in each group will advance to the playoffs once the group stage concludes for CS:GO and Tekken 7, however only the top team in each group will advance to the playoffs for eFootball.
