Regional Champions CS:GO

India’s CS:GO has successfully beaten the teams of Pakistan and Bangladesh in the South Asian Regional Qualifiers to qualify for the 14th World Esports Championships. The CS:GO squad, led by Ritesh Sarda (Defaulter), beat Pakistan and Bangladesh 2-0 in the semi-finals and final, respectively.

The event is going to take place in Bali, starting 1st December to 12th December 2022. Along with the 5-member CS:GO team, Hitesh Kharwal, the renowned Tekken 7 athlete, and Hemanth Kommu, an eFootball athlete will also be representing India in this prestigious event. Both of them got qualified by topping the Esports Federation of India’s (ESFI) National Esports Championships (NESC) 2022.

The 14th IESF championships will be organized by International Esports Federation. All the top-rated athletes from over 120 countries will be participating in this event. There will be 6 distinctive esport titles for the competition such as CS:GO, Dota 2, Tekken 7, eFootball, as well as PUBG mobile and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. There will be a prize pool of ₹4 crores for the winner.

Breakdown of India’s winning against Pakistan and Bangladesh

The strong Indian team, led by Sarda, effortless played in their matches and beat Pakistan in two separate maps by the scores of 16-6 and 16-4. They then demonstrated a similar aggressive performance to outperform Bangladesh in both maps of the final by the scores of 16-7 and 16-5.

The team has done very well in showcasing its qualities in game while prevailing in all these qualifiers but the WEC final will be a stern test on a much higher level and we want to match that. I have high hopes from the tournament and we want to bring some glory from it back home,” said Sarda, captain of the Indian CS:GO team.

It was the similar team that previously participated in the last edition of World Esports Championships which took place in Eilat. They finished at the eighth position in the final match.
