We are Millenials so it is totally natural for us to seek knowledge about what’s on the menu for dinner tomorrow, while we’re cooking today’s lunch. We’re hooked on dopamine. Just the mere information of what will be coming in next year, even though we’re only just short of three quarters done this year, will give us just the right amount of dopamine we need to get by the next thirty minutes. Also, we’re suckers for mental masturbation.

Well, this is who we are. Is it a good or a bad thing we’re this way? It doesn’t matter. We’re contemporary products, and this is the result you get for living in times like these. Well if such is the case, so be it.

Here’s your dopamine fix that will last you a solid 26 minutes. Thank us by sharing this article with your dopamine junkie buddies. Diablo 4

Release Date: Late in 2023
Platforms: Windows, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S
Developer: Blizzard

Diablo, a franchise that made us the millenials we are today, is seeing a big release in 2023 a.k.a. Diablo 4. Diablo 2 released in the year 2000. Blizzard released follow-up Diablo 3 in 2012, twelve years after. So that makes Diablo 4’s release eleven years after Diablo 3. This release strategy is very much well in line with Blizzard’s catalogue, barring the Warcraft series. Will they ever release the next Warcraft? Anyway, yes, Diablo 4 is coming. Blizzard is one of the few companies left that still release long-term games, and iterate after minimum of 10 years. Gotta give ’em for that. Also, the game is being released for the old consoles, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, another reason to rejoice.

Street Fighter 6

Release Date: Summer 2023
Platforms: Windows, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S
Developer: Capcom

Speaking of decade long wait for follow ups, Street Fighter is one franchise that just falls short. Street Fighter 5 was released seven years back. No its turn for Street Fighter 6. Count on this game to implement all the latest graphical tech like ray-tracing. A ray-traced “Hadouken” will look absolutely sick. Capcom is looking to “redefine” the fighting game genre, a genre that simple and has stood the test of time. If you haven’t played Street Fighter 2 at video game parlours then do you even know gaming? While the game does release on PS4, there’s going to be no Xbox One version.

Starfield

Release Date: Early 2023
Platforms: Windows, PS5, Xbox Series X/S
Developer: Bethesda

starfield game bethesda

Bethesda is coming with a new IP, Starfield. I remember getting too excited about Elder Scrolls – Skyrim, only to be kind of disappointed when I finished the game. It felt exactly like Elder Scrolls – Oblivion, most changes were on the surface, and the game fundamentally stayed the same. Then I remember getting way too excited for Fallout 4, but this game turned out to be pretty much the same stuff too. They’re hailing Starlight as “Skyrim in space.” Please I beg you Bethesda, not another Skyrim. This has led me to be a little sceptical about Bethesda post being a blindsided fan-boy, but I can’t help feeling excited. Sigh, I’m so easy to please.

Baldur’s Gate 3

Release Date: Somewhere 2023 (hopefully)
Platforms: Windows, MacOS, Stadia
Developer: Larian Studios

This one’s for you #pcmasterrace suckers. This game has a fascinating story behind it. It’s already been on Early Access on Steam since October 2020. It has garnered some 50,000 “Mostly Positive” reviews, yet, the beauty is that it hasn’t been officially released. All that has been released till date is a small story and a fraction of classes. The full story along with the remaining classes are still under development. That’s what I call a friggin successful product, that’s already sold in hundreds of thousands and not been officially released. That official date is set somewhere in 2023, brace yourself.

Final Fantasy XVI

Release Date: Summer 2023
Platforms: PS5
Developer: Square Enix

I think it would be fair to conclude that there is no “Final” ever in Final Fantasy. Square Enix has been milking this franchise since before even the term “millennials” was invented. Lately the franchise has been a mixed bag but there is no denying that we Final Fantasy is responsible for some beautiful gaming moments that are ingrained in most millennial gamers. (I swear if I got a dollar for every time I used the word “millennial”) The new Final Fantasy game will be based in European medieval setting, and will feature even more action based combat than ever before.
