Ansh Patel says:
By now, the outrage over the controversial ending is common knowledge. Few issues had the entire gaming community talking as much as the “Retake” movement. What is also common knowledge among the more sensible folks is that this very outrage ended up eclipsing an otherwise spectacular game. A culmination of the choice-based cinematic storytelling BioWare set out to do back in 2007, it was a confident achievement in every manner, be it the intense combat, choices spread over 90 hours of a trilogy, a linear narrative with an intense focus, or characters that shall last far longer in minds than any cheap controversy would allow.
Rishi Alwani says:
Sure, the ending left a bitter taste in the mouths of most fans, but that does little to take away from the fact that Mass Effect 3 was a cinematic space opera with a scale few franchises can match. A combination of likeable characters, solid writing, and fast-paced gameplay make it hard to ignore. And if, like me, you’ve spent an incalculable amount of time playing Mass Effect 1 and 2, it’s nice to see how certain events turn out in a finale that’s as fitting as we’ll get.
