Armello, the fantasy board game that has been available on Steam’s Early Access program has just announced its release on the PlayStation 4 in September 2015. The game features a mix of tactical card play, tabletop strategy and RPG elements. Along with the announcement, the developers League of Geeks also revealed the game’s complete visual upgrade and a new playable character, Brun Oakbreaker, the male bear.
The gameplay involves playing as a ‘Hero’ from one of the four animal clans: Rat, Rabbit, Bear or Wolf. Players navigate their fully animated 3D character across the board (procedurally generated from 3D hex tiles) as they quest, scheme, explore, vanquish monsters, perform the Mad King’s royal edicts, and face off against other players, with one ultimate end goal in mind — storming the palace and becoming King or Queen of Armello.
The game is available to play on Steam Early access (Windows, Mac and Linux ) and Humble Store for $24.99 USD. The game was launched into early access on 22 January 2015. The developers plan to completely launch the game six months after the Early Access period. On launch the game will be available for PC , Mac and Linux.

“While we knew Armello would be something special, the overwhelmingly positive feedback we received from players surprised even us,” said Trent Kusters, founder and director, League of Geeks. “Armello has enough simplicity for anyone to pick up and play and has just enough depth to keep hardcore gamers coming back for more.”
At launch developers, League of Geeks plans to double the amount of playable characters currently available in Early Access, increasing the number from four to eight. The male bear clan hero, ‘Brun Oakbreaker’, highlighted in the assets released today, is the first upcoming character to be revealed. Brun will be playable for the first time at E3. Armello is the first game of the Melbourne-based Australian indie developer League of Geeks.
