Intex just showed off the first phone with true octa-core smartphone from an Indian brand. The phone, still unnamed, has got MediaTek’s MT6592 chipset. The SoC consists of eight Cortex A7 cores — clocked from 1.7 GHz to 2 GHz. For its GPU, it has got the Mali 450 GPU at 700 MHz. The phone has got 2 GB of RAM and a 13 MP rear camera as well as 2 MP front-facing camera. Boasting a 6-inch 720p screen, the phone will come in 16 GB and 32 GB storage variants, starting from about Rs. 20,000.
The prototype’s running on Android 4.2.2, and the phone is expected to get launched in early January under the company’s Aqua series. The SoC supports H.265 as well as VP9 codec for videos. The SoC will soon be seen in many phone from various OEMs and Intex has been the first one to unveil in a phone.
