Samsung recently released its new external storage device called the Portable Solid-State Drive (SSD) T9. It comes with a USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 interface, claiming to offer faster read/write speeds at 2,000 MB/s.
This T9 is positioned as an upgrade, boasting to be twice as fast as its predecessor. Samsung claims it can transfer a 4GB video in about two seconds and has a maximum capacity of 4TB, catering to those dealing with professional-level content.
Designed with content creators in mind, the T9 aims to address challenges like data management and large file transfers. According to Puneet Sethi, Vice President at Samsung India, the Portable SSD T9 aims to provide practical solutions for modern content creators.
In terms of performance, the T9 is said to feature a USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 interface, providing sequential read/write speeds of up to 2,000 MB/s. It comes in three capacities: 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB, offering flexibility for different storage needs.
While emphasizing functionality, the T9 also focuses on durability and design. The concept is a mix of luxury and ruggedness, with a rubber exterior for a comfortable grip and protection against low-temperature burns.
Reliability is underlined with a five-year limited warranty and resistance to drops from up to three meters. The T9 incorporates Samsung’s Dynamic Thermal Guard technology to manage overheating and maintain consistent transfer rates. It claims to comply with international safety standards, making it suitable for demanding tasks with minimal heat generation.
The Samsung Magician software 8.0 is said to enhance the user experience with features like performance benchmarking, security functions, firmware updates, and real-time health status checks. The T9’s compatibility extends to various platforms, including Windows, macOS, smartphones, tablets, gaming consoles, and high-resolution cameras.
Performance-wise, the T9 is said to guarantee uninterrupted high-resolution video recording with sustained write performance. Its TurboWrite technology and larger buffer sizes aim to optimize it for content creators.
