Last of Us is one of the most anticipated games this year for the PS3, and is also of the biggest releases of this year.
If you notice the price of the game on Flipkart and Game4u, you can see that Last of Us is priced at Rs. 2699/- rather than the generic Rs. 2999/-. Almost all triple-A games have a starting point price of Rs. 2999/-.
The low price is partially owed to the local manufacturing and replication of PlayStation 3 games. Local manufacturing allows sellers to evade import and custom duties along with currency exchange commissions. The Last of Us is the first game to be locally replicated.
It is a good sign the effect of the cause is reflected tangibly in the lower price, but we believe that game prices could still be a lot lower than they are now. Even with a price tag of Rs. 2699/-, The Last of Us is still an expensive purchase, particularly for Indian crowds. MCV-India reports that initially The Last of Us was to be priced at Rs. 2499/-, but Sony shunned those plans and went for Rs. 2600/-.
What do you think about this price drop? Will be buying this game right now, or will be you wait for a further price drop.
