1. Spectral Souls

Ever thought of large scaled Japanese RPG on WindowsPhone? If you have, good for you! If you haven’t, we have just the fix for you, Spectral Souls has some of the best Japanese title elements. During my gameplay I never realized I was playing a mobile/handheld game. The production values, soundtrack, cutscenes and controller support make this game a must play for everyone. Game has some of the best visuals I have seen in its scale and size. The best part of the game is that it has about 100 hours of content which is huge for a mobile game. Besides being such a big game on content side and having great visuals it works on 512MB Ram devices.

2. Modern Combat 4

Modern Combat 4 is one of the most visually impressive game you will see in the Windows Store. I don’t need to tell you much about this game becuase it speaks for itself. It is one of the best fps you will find in the story. Story is not great but still enjoyable and multiplayer is fun. Game also uses gyroscope for controlling the game but we know fps are also tough to play on a smartphone becuase of its awkward controls but Modern Combat does a good job in this department. This game is only available for 1GB ram users but it will still bring down your phonw to knees.

3. Star Wars Assault Team

The Star Wars franchise ventures to smartphones and succeeds in most of the departments. It is a point and click adventure game. If you have some basic knowledge about Star Wars I am sure you will enjoy the story which is told nicely through good dialogues writing and a great background score. Most of the game is fun but sometimes the free-to-play elements can be a bit disturbing. Still the gameplay mechanics are well implemented in the game, Star Wars: Assault Team also has some strategic gameplay which adds more fun and challenge.

4. Contre Jour

Contre Jour is what you get when you mix art and gameplay. In Contre Jour you are Petit, a character who don’t ‘fully’ control. What I mean is that you control Petit but his movement generally depends on the other factors such as the tentacles, who influence your movement. Each level in the game introduces you to a new art styles and adds more colors to the game. Graphically the game is not demanding but its art style is what will be remembered down the line. The levels will slowly and gradually increase the challenge and you will always have levels which feel like a tutorial. It is in the later stage of the game that you realise the importance of them. I recommend this game to everybody looking for something new, different and challenging.

5. Ilomilo

Remember Ilomilo? It was originally released for Xbox Live Arcade, many loved the game but some criticised it. Here is my opinion: Ilomilo is a great 3D platformer. The game is simple, you are controlling two friends, Ilo and Milo, and your objective is to get the two friends together at the end of the level. Both characters have access to different parts of the level and to collect all the collectibles you will need to use the full potential of both. At times you can even manipulate the environments too. The game’s music will keep you engaged throughout your gameplay. Collecting collectibles will reward you with additional levels which is rewarding, and pushes you change your approach on each level. This game is worth your money, don’t miss it.

That’s all from us. So after all, the Windows Phone platform isn’t really deserted of good games as contrary to popular belief. You can find a bunch load of good games on Microsoft’s smartphone offering that cover a wide spectrum of genres. And we aren’t done yet. We’re still playing a whole lot of Windows Phone games. Stay tuned!
