Xbox One’s reveal event left more said than done for its onlookers. Microsoft has been keeping mum about the expected price for the controversial Xbox One. And this hasn’t stopped certain retailers from offering the Xbox One on pre-order at a “to be announced” price.
Amazon Germany, however, saves itself the speculation and has priced the Xbox One at 599 euros. That makes the price roughly 775 in US Dollars. In Indian Rupees, that equals Rs. 43,100 approximate.
This hinted price point is way beyond the industry speculated price, which hovers around $500, and in general, is expensive for gamers to even consider buying. We really can’t say on what basis Amazon Germany has listed this price. One reason can be to test the reaction of buyers, to help Microsoft zero down on a convenient price. Who knows. Speculations speculations!
Speaking realistically, we expect the Xbox One to be available at a launch price of $399 and $499. The former being for the basic model and the latter being for the model with a high capacity HDD. Keep in mind, the Kinect will be bundled with even the basic model of Xbox One, as Microsoft has has made it a compulsory requirement.
One positive sign pricing wise is that we should be seeing a full-blown price war between PS4 and Xbox One, due to their same launch time periods (Christmas 2013?). Both the consoles will be looking to get as many early adopters on their side as soon as possible, and price could be the sole deciding factor for their buyers. This is a good thing for the consumer. Competition is always good.
Right now, there’s nothing more we could be speculate. Maybe our speculations will come to a rest during E3, where both Microsoft and Sony might announce the price of their upcoming consoles.
Will you getting an Xbox One or a PS4? What do you think about the price listed by Amazon Germany?
