D.G.U

Yamraj just built a university and everyone is invited to play as the Mini God of Death. At least that would have been the game’s description had the game been designed purely for an Indian audience. DSK Green Ice Games, the Pune-based game developers however, have designed the game for a global audience and are calling it Death God University (DGU) instead of Yamraj College of Death Engineering. The game has been on Steam’s Greenlight system waiting for some love for quite a while, which it eventually found having been Greenlit by the community which means it will be able to launch on the Steam Storefront itself. The developers tease the release date on their official website as some time in Spring 2015.

DGU was recently showcased by EPIC Games on the Unreal booth space at GDC’15. This was the only Indian-made game to have made it to GDC this year (We’re not talking about our own Nasscom GDC). The trailer was shown by EPIC during their Unreal Engine 4 live presentation on Twitch.

Here are some screenshots from Death God University.

DGU is a 3rd person puzzle/action game in the spirit of the old point and click games like Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max and Monkey Island. The art style looks rather simplistic and cartoony, the the game does seem to use the eye candy offered by the Unreal engine in terms of the lighting and shadows.

Quoting from their website, DSK Green Ice Games is the game development division of DSK Studios, a company of the DSK Group, DSK Green Ice Games is focusing on making games for PCs and Consoles for the Next Gen. Composed of international veterans of the video game industry and of professionals from the video game industry in India, DSK Green Ice Games focuses on delivering quality entertainment to the worldwide market through an online distribution channel. Using high end technologies, tools and production methods, DSK Green Ice Games is currently in the process of developing 2 games that are to be released in 2015.

About me: A collector, I hunt for stuff that was missed. I’m the guy who goes into a music store and asks the staff if they have some secret music cd in the backroom storage closet. My life ticks away while I watch anime, reading fictional novels or stalk Wikipedia for information completely useless to me.
