The latest iteration in the Assassins Creed series, Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, announced full Arabic localisation support, bringing something to cheer about for its fans from the Middle East.
Ubisoft announced complete integration of the language with full Arabic translations, including Arabic voice-overs, subtitles, localized UI and menu screens. This is Ubisoft’s first attempt at full scale Arabic support in any of its games at launch.
With this, Ubisoft attempts to bolster its attempt to have a greater presence in the Middle East, by tapping into one of the world’s fastest growing markets. They are surely taking a big step towards this by bringing in their most revered franchise to appeal to the local market. Ubisoft had previously established roots in the Middle East by opening a localisation and culturalisation studio in Abu Dhabi in 2013, with the purpose of revamping its games. By doing this, they have gradually increased the number of titles with Arabic support, with some others being The Division, an RPG game, and open-world racer, The Crew. Localisation has never been easy, as re-engineering the games in such a way as to cater to the local psyche, is a tough nut to crack. This is more prominent for the Arabic language, as it is read from left to right, thus the UI has to be particularly addressed as its just not a matter of flipping the sides. It has to be done in such a way that the players find it easy to adapt and the elements are consistent with their reading habits.
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is an epic single player experience set in London during the height of the Industrial Revolution. Players get the chance to explore the largest, most modern open-world city ever created in an Assassin’s Creed game.
The game releases on October 23, 2015 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with the PC version following at a later date.
