California based CyberPowerPC Inc is set to officially launch in India as per an announcement by the company’s PR arm on 22nd May, 2024. CyberPowerPC India is a joint venture between India-based Creative Newtech Ltd. and CyberPower Inc. The JV aims to bring CyberPowerPC’s gaming rigs and peripherals to the Indian market.

A stepping stone to CyberPowerPC’s foray into Asia, the company has roped in Vishal Parekh, former marketing leader of NODWIN Gaming, Kingston and HyperX as the brand’s COO in India.

CyberPowerPC, incorporated in 1998 is a veteran PC building company operating particularly in North America. The company has since been one of the leaders in custom built PCs. It goes without saying that CyberPowerPC collaborates with most if not all chipset and silicon brands to build PCs, but the noteworthy thing is that the company freely uses peripherals of popular brands like Phanteks, Lian Li, Thermaltake and Cooler Master for its builds. For the “hardcore” gamer, this is a blessing as this service is mostly reserved to your friendly neighbourhood computer shop, rather than a multinational brand.

CyberPowerPC achieved the number one OEM position in the US by selling over 100,000 Microsoft Windows units in 2014-2015. By 2018, it was chosen as Amazon’s Choice SKU for Gaming Desktop PCs. The brand’s products are widely available at major retailers across the US and Canada, including Costco, Walmart, Staples, Fingerhut, and Rakuten. It also holds the top spot in Best Buy’s gaming desktop category. Notably, CyberPowerPC was the only non-MNC to rank in the top 10 for units sold in desktops and accounted for 5 of the top 10 gaming desktops sold in 2022.

The company’s India website is up and running and has already listed PC builds on the latest Intel and AMD platforms. The Xtreme 720 Gaming PC comes with Intel’s 14700K CPU, a ZOTAC RTX 4070 SUPER, 2TB of NVMe M.2 storage and 32GB of DDR5 RAM. It costs around ₹2,00,000/-. This price is on the higher side for its configuration. iLLGaming can configure a build even more powerful and include a monitor and still cost less than than the Xtreme 720. And our build will have proper 360mm liquid cooling versus the 120mm that this configuration comes with. In the company’s defence, it is offering free shipping along with 1-year warranty as standard.

The cheapest Intel build on the company’s website is the Xtreme Arctic 500 Gaming PC that has a price of 1,23,317. At this price the least you would expect is an i7 but what you’re getting is an i5-14400F CPU with an RTX 4060 GPU. The cheapest AMD build, the Esports 500 Gaming PC comes at a more reasonable 73,201 with a Ryzen 5 5500 CPU and an RX 6500 XT 8GB GPU. This prices seems more accessible and justified than the Intel builds.

On a more positive note, as a Grand Opening bonus, the company is offering two kind of Free Bundles on any pre-order, valued at 13,000 and 16,000. The bundles include a HyperX Keyboard, CyberPowerPC Mouse and Mouse Pad, HyperX Headset, T-shirt, cap, sipper and sling bag. The second bundle additionally comes with Game Card with 3,000 credits.

It will be interesting to see what the company does in this space, which is pretty competitive and at this stage, pretty mature in India. From initial analysis of the company’s products, it seems that CyberPowerPC is yet to get the pricing right for Indian consumers though. The premium being demanded for the CyberPowerPC brand is steep. Whether the price is justified or not, only time will tell.

“We have been keenly observing the Indian gaming market for a while, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity for us to launch in the country,” says Eric Cheung, Founder and CEO of CyberPowerPC. While we certainly welcome the move by Cheung, we hope CyperPowerPC prices their products right for the Indian market.
