The best Andar Bahar strategy guide ever

Andar Bahar is a game that originated in South-India and spread widely throughout the nation. We are all familiar with internationally acclaimed card games. Andar Bahar is no lesser, it makes up for all the fun and entertainment.

The game originated from Bangalore and was called Katti. A pure game of luck with 50/50 chances to win. Some may say it’s a game of skill, but I guarantee you not much of skill exists. It can only help you so much.

Are you wondering how to play Andar Bahar? It’s simple. Just stay tuned.

How is it played?

The game is very simple to understand and play, which happens to be a reason for its widespread popularity. It involves a dealer and a player with a single pack of cards. The dealer cuts the pack and picks a card. This card is turned face up, it’s called the Joker.

Now there are two sides, Andar or Bahar (Inside or Outside); the player places a bet on the side he thinks the joker is most likely to fall. After the bets are placed, the dealer deals the card one after another alternatively in each slot. If the first card dealt is black, we start at Andar and if it’s red, we start at Bahar.

Andar is the left slot and Bahar is the right slot. The dealer continues to deal until the joker card appears on the table, the round ends here. If it appears on your spot, you win; else, you lose.

Payout Options

If the joker appears on the same side as the first card, the payout is 90% and if the joker appears on the other side of the first card dealt, the payout is 100%.

Bet (INR) The same side as the first card dealt The other side of the first card dealt
100 190 200
500 950 1000

Position Andar pays at 1:9:1 and Bahar pays at 2:1. The casino gains its edge at Andar bets. It is possible to place side bets. You can place side bets with or without placing main hand bets.

Side bets are made on the number of cards that may be dealt with before the joker card appears. Payouts are much more on side bets. It goes as high as 120:1 for 41 or more cards dealt.

Side bet strategy

Side bets may seem very easy but are not as simple as that. The bet must be placed before the match starts on how many cards will be dealt with before the joker matches. It could be the first or 31st or 41st.

However, there is a strategy you could employ to increase your chances. Keep in mind that 51 cards are left in the deck and that you have 3 cards to match from. The more a card is dealt the better your chances.

So you have 3 choices: early ranges, midranges, and long ranges. If you think the joker will arrive in the first 5 cards you can place the bet on 1-5 and the payouts are as follows,

Number of Cards Payout
1-5 x3.5
6-10 x4.5
11-15 x5.5
16-25 x4.5
26-30 x15
31-35 x25
36-40 x50
41+ x120

There is no specific strategy to play and win the game. You either place main bets on Andar or Bahar and side bets.

A game just like Roulette in the sense that it completely depends on luck. Card counting and other skills won’t be of much use. No techniques and strategies will work.

Although no strategies work, the Martingale strategy may prove to be more than handy in making sure you keep tabs on loss. This ensures to control your loss but you will not win much. You will have to double your bets on a loss every time. But you need a big bankroll to back it up.
