The reboot of the game that sprung the FPS genre, Wolf 3D, called Wolfenstein: The New Order is on the brim of its release.
Bethesda have announced the minimum PC requirements along with the console HDD requirements:
OS: 64-bit Windows 7/Windows 8
CPU: Intel Core i7 or equivalent AMD
RAM: 4 GB System RAM
HDD Space: 50 GB free HDD space
Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 460, ATI Radeon HD 6850
High Speed Internet Connection
Steam account and activation required
Nothing really alarming there, everything seems generic. Also, the game will require Steam to run, which is never a bad thing. The only thing worrying is the 50 gig space it takes on your hard drive. People getting the game digitally will have to manage their internet FUP quotas accordingly.
Here are the HDD requirements for consoles, with some additional details:
PlayStation 4
- Hard Drive Requirements: ~47 GB total install
- Voice Commands optional
Xbox One
- Hard Drive requirements: ~47 GB total install
- Kinect support for Voice Commands (English, French, Italian, German, Spanish only)
Xbox 360
- Hard Drive requirements: 8 GB minimum
- Game includes 4 discs, including the first disc that is a mandatory installation disc.
PlayStation 3
- Hard Drive requirements for disc play: 8 GB HDD space
- Hard Drive requirements for PSN download: 17 GB HDD space
So the PS4 and Xbox One, like the PC, require 47 gigs of space. Things are not that bad for the PS3 and Xbox 360. The substantial difference in install size between the new and old generation consoles could be down to higher texture files for next-gen consoles and the PC.
Wolfenstein: The New Order releases on Windows, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on May 20, 2014.
