deus ex nihilum

One of the biggest perks of PC gaming is access to a plethora of mods created by enthusiastic gamers/modders. And if you’re an enthusiastic PC gamer, you’ll agree with me that Deus Ex, even thirteen years after its release, is still one of the best games ever made for the PC.

And being 13 years old doesn’t stop modders from continuously working on enriching the Deus Ex experience. Ion Storm, the developer of the original Deus Ex shut shop long back, and yet the game continues to grow in its scope. This is something utterly fantastic, a game this old being supported full-power even today.

Deus Ex: Nihilum is the latest contribution to the legendary game, and calling it a mod would be an understatement. Some have gone as far as saying that Deus Ex: Nihilum is the spiritual successor to Deus Ex. Nihilum adds roughly ten hours of entirely new never-seen-before gameplay. The scope of this mod is so large that it contains a parallel storyline that merges and fits with Deus Ex‘s original conspiring storyline.

The developer of the mod is FastGamerr, who have been working since 2011 to complete this mod. I kid you not, this mod is THE shit. It almost like a full blown expansion pack. There’s 2 hours of new recorded soundtrack, over 2000 lines of fresh recorded dialogue and a handful of new environments and maps. And FastGamerr swears that everything is added keeping in the mind the very essence of the core of Deus Ex, such as exploration, which is rewarded with handful of hidden secrets.

Nihilum is the final project taken up by FastGamerr, and the modder will dissolve since the project has been completed. You can download the mod from ModDB. We’ve already started playing it, and you should too.
