Conclusion

I was a little skeptical because this was the first time I was reviewing a Tt eSports mouse, but in the end I was happy with what I saw. The Theron brings you the features of a top rated mouse in a package that is accessible, east-to-use, flexible and well made.

The build quality is top-notch, there are no protrusions and loose bindings as such. I feel that the Theron’s ergonomics are the most well designed amongst competitors. It sits your palm perfectly, and with some burn-in time, the mouse grips bulls eye in the slot of your fingers. The inward curvy left side of the Theron helps in seating your thumb, making it convenient to use the forward/back buttons (or anything else if you remap them for a game).

The Theron in absolute darkness

As far as the 5600dpi laser sensor goes, the Theron seizes to disappoint.  I’ve used the Roccat Kone[+] and the Razer Taipan, both having 6000dpi and 8200dpi, respectively. For the majority of the time, I refrained from using the anything above 2500dpi because of over-sensitivity and loss of control. The Logitech MX518 is the only mouse where I can use 2500dpi for long sessions. For the first time, the Theron has made me use 5600dpi and be comfortable with it. The main reason for this is the grip the mouse provides. I’m using the mouse with all the six 4.5 weights provided, I like the heaviness a palm-grip mouse provides. The PTFE feet help in sliding characteristics. I tested the mouse with a Steelseries 4HD surface, which combines well with the Theron.

On Flipkart, the Theron is going for INR 3,925 after an 18% mark off from its INR 4,850 MRP. At this price, it is an absolute steal. The Razer Imperator costs Rs. 4,400 but is a notch down in build quality. Steelseries Sensei offers the same features, but its priced at INR 500 higher than the Theron and has questionable ergonomics. I’ll go as far as saying that the Theron trumps the Razer Taipan which is priced 50% higher. The 8200dpi sensor in the Taipan is of no use unless you’re gaming on a 65 inch screen.

What’s iLL:

  • An almost perfect symmetrical design, allowing for both right/left handed use
  • Best in class ergonomics, allowing great grip, sense of control and comfort
  • Effortless accessibility to dpi change, forward/back and macro buttons
  • Seven LED lighting options. Looks to kill.
  • High precision laser sensor
  • Great price/performance ratio

What’s not:

  • Using the back/forward buttons bring up a pop-up, which is intrusive
