India is having a great run at the Commonwealth Games 2022 held in Birmingham. Team India has managed to bag a number of medals, emerging as leaders in wrestling especially.
The great run is not limited to track sports and athletics. Team India has also done well at the Commonwealth Esports Championship. We recently covered that India will be participating in the Commonwealth Esports Championship for the games Dota 2 and Rocket League. Well, India’s Dota 2 team has managed a historic Bronze medal in the tournament, beating New Zealand by 2-0 in a best-of-three format.
The Indian Dota 2 team comprises of Moin Ejaz (captain), Ketan Goyal, Abhishek Yadav, Shubhnam Goli, and Vishal Vernekar, who all traveled to Birmingham just a few days back along with India’s Rocket League team.
India was drawn in a tough group consisting of Trinidad & Tobago, Wales and England. India beat all teams in the group stage except England. This guaranteed India a place in the semi-finals, where Team India had to face Malaysia. India failed to beat Malaysia in the semi-finals. This pit them against New Zealand for the Bronze medal match, which they managed to win decisively.
Our next stop will be Asian Games 2022, where Esports is a proper medal event, and our focus is to excel in the tournament with multiple podiums finishes and bringing the laurels for our country.
