Power Consumption
Here are our power consumption figures for the GTX 780. Numbers for the other cards are pulled from our GTX Titan review.
pcidle pcloadThe GTX 780 is about 4 watts short from the 680 when idle. That’s a good thing. Infact, even the Titan draws lesser power than the 680 when idle. On load we see that the GTX 780 pulling 302 Watts. That is some respectable power. You’ll need a minimum 600W PSU if you plan to run the GTX 780, but keep in mind, that is the bare minimum. We advise going for a PSU with atleast 650W of power rating.

Noise Levels
We don’t test GPUs on an open bench like many other websites. We test them how they’re supposed to run, that is, inside your cabinet and under your table. This give us accurate and realistic noise levels.
nlidle nlloadThe adaptive fan advertised by Nvidia does seem evident with these results. The Titan like cooler works even better with the GTX 780 when on load. On idle, most cards are very close in their noise levels. Practically, the difference between all the GPUs is inaudible, at idle.

  1. These Graphics card reviews are really great! You should look into perhaps chronicling a PC build, on a fixed budget. As in, “Gaming PC build: for under Rs 50,000” or something. That would be cool!

    • Thanks for the suggestion. We are working on a guide, stay tuned! That being said, with so variety of hardware options available to the buyer, with Rs. 50,000 you can really build a beefy PC.
