Revenant Esports, an esports organisation that hunts for talent among buddying gamers in India, has booked their spot in the Pokemon UNITE World Championships 2022 by winning the Indian regional qualifier tournament.

Revenant Esports beat Team Ascension by 3-1 in the final match, taking home a cash prize of USD 20,000.

The qualifiers had 24 teams from across the country participating, including popular teams like True Rippers Esports, Enigma Gaming, Entity Gaming and S8ul. Revenant Esports played nine games in total, in the group stages and playoffs, and managed an impressive feat of winning all nine games.

The team will now represent India at the highly competitive and prestigious Pokemon UNITE World Championship, scheduled to take place in London from August 19-20. The tournament will feature 16 teams, qualified from 26 countries across the globe. The teams will be divided into four groups. The top two teams from each group will progress to the playoffs. All games will be plated in a double elimination best-of-three format while the final will be played in a best-of-five format with a bracket reset.

The tournament will have a whopping a prize pool of USD 500,000.

The Pokemon Unite Roster comprises of Raunak Sen (Crowley), Omkar Sawardekar (Omen), Adnan Badshah (Badshah), Jeet Kundra (Swifty), Anklesh Satelkar (Novaa) and Vishnu Khatri (Xesol). For a team that was just assembled recently on June 13, this is a magnificent feat pulled off by them.

This news come just days after Team India’s success at the Commonwealth Esports Championship 2022 in Dota 2. The team beat New Zealand to clinch third place, winning the Bronze medal.

This was India’s first esports medal on the global stage, and celebrated deservedly by the Indian esports community.

The news of Revenant Esports qualifying for the Pokemon UNITE World Championship comes as an icing on the cake after India’s win in the Commonwealth Esports Championship 2022.
