XPS 13 (2022) is Dell’s lightest and thinnest laptop yet

Dell has officially launched its much awaited flagship laptop in India, the XPS 13. This is Dell’s premium laptop, featuring the best specifications and highest graded body and construction.

The XPS 13 is the lightest and thinnest XPS by Dell, just 0.55 inches thin and weighing just 1.17kg. To put things in perspective, this makes the XPS 13 slightly lighter than the M2 Macbook Air, that weighs 1.24kg. The Macbook Air is still a whopping 20% thinner than the Dell XPS 13 though, at 0.44 inches.

The 2022 XPS 13 weighs around 70 grams lighter than the M2 Macbook Air

Dell claims that they have “miniaturized” the motherboard to be 1.8x smaller than the one found in the predecessor XPS 13 (2021). It is the smallest motherboard ever to be fitted in a Dell PC. Even with the reduced size, the XPX 13 9315 is better performing, sounding and longer lasting than the previous gen XPS 13.

Staying true to the XPS design philosophy, the XPS 13 comes with super thin bezels, that raise immersion.

Reducing the size of the motherboard comes with the prime benefit of being able to fit in a bigger battery. The XPS 13 thus has a larger battery than its predecessor at 51WHr. The battery comes with Dell’s Express Charge technology that can charge the laptop up to 80% in less than an hour.

The 2022 version of XPS 13 carries forward the minimalistic design philosophy that the previous XPS versions had. It features a 4-sided InfinityEdge display with a minimal bezels. Sadly, the display only comes in FHD+ resolution, i.e. 1080p. Honestly, we were expecting a higher resolution.

Speakers in the latest XPS 13 have received a bump in size compared to the previous model too. Dell claims that the new speakers enable louder sound, deeper bass and a better overall audio experience. Only testing the laptop can prove whether this claim stands true.

The XPS 13 will be available in three configurations:

They all feature Intel’s latest line of EVO chips, that are touted for their high performance and power efficiency. How they perform in the real world, only time will tell. We await review units to debunk the performance of the latest gen Dell XPS 13.

The XPS 13 will be available for purchase on Dell’s Official Website and select Dell Exclusive Stores starting 25th August 2022.
